A little background: Ben has been very close to walking for a while now.  Recently he’s started practicing standing (without holding on to anything) in various situations.  Last night we think that he discovered he can free-stand for as long as he likes.  He also clapped for the first time — maybe he was waiting for an appropriate time to clap for himself!

Ben really liked the cake but he’s reserving judgment about the ice cream.

Ben loves climbing up the stairs to visit the room over our garage.  When dad is around, Ben decides to pull all of the books off of the shelves in that room.  Somehow mom gets him to behave a bit better.  Must be those super-mommy powers…

The first word that Ben has learned is the sign for “more.”  This is a very useful sign for Ben, since it always seems to work to get him more food…more Cheerios especially.
